Preparatory

We want to prepare our children for their futures by growing, developing and engaging them in a schooling system that allows for significant thinking in a nurturing environment.

Our focus is on creating opportunities to allow our children to explore, to think and to develop a powerful understanding of concepts and the world around them

At this early stage of a child’s development, they need to be encouraged to explore their world, and they are guided by you and by us in that exploration. We seek to create a safe environment in which mistakes can be made, but are not lived in. How else do we know that we will never be the next Picasso or Elon Musk, or, indeed that we are good at something but that it is still not our favourite, unless we can explore, express and examine in a safe environment?

Academic Support

The school is committed to providing academic support to all learners wherever possible. The attendance of Academic Support in the Preparatory School will be determined by the teacher. Parents may request, through the relevant teacher, that the child be placed in the Academic Support programme.

For Junior Primary, we have LED (Learning Enrichment Development) for children that need extra assistance with consolidating concepts. This happens during the school day, every day, where our remedial teacher helps children within the classroom or works with a few of the children in small groups to consolidate any struggles in a practical.

For Senior Primary, children will be asked to attend extra lessons. These extra lessons run from 13h45 – 14h15 ; thereafter learners will either go home or attend extramural activities.

Camps & Outings

All learners from Grade 3 – 6 will attend a camp once a year. Grade 3 learners are away for two days and one night. Grade 4 – 6 learners are away for 3 days and two nights.

The camps are carefully selected and offer a range of activities from leadership to team building and environmental issues. Trained councilors work with the pupils. Staff from The King’s Preparatory also attend and oversee these excursions.

There are also various day outings and periodic tours related to either sport, cultural or subject learnings.
